Peninsula Friends of Animals

Facilities

Peninsula Friends of Animals is a cageless, no-kill, nonprofit animal welfare group located on the beautiful North Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. We provide temporary shelter, veterinary care and spay/neutering for rescued cats and dogs, which are fostered until permanent homes can be found. Our main adoption center, Safe Haven, is located on Highway 101 between Sequim and Port Angeles. It includes the main animal shelter and adoption center plus several outbuildings. Barker House is an additional facility for special needs kitties.

Safe Haven

Acquired in 2000, Safe Haven is a 5,000 square-foot, two-story rancher-style home remodeled to provide room for up to 65 rescue animals plus administrative space, kitchen, laundry and storage for food, medicines, litter and equipment. It is PFOA’s primary facility between Sequim and Port Angeles.

Safe Haven — Upper Floor

The upper floor houses animal intake, office and kitchen areas, conference room, laundry facilities, storage for food and supplies, and the kitten rooms. Each kitten room has a fully enclosed deck accessible by sliding doors and a cat door for residents.

Safe Haven — Lower Floor

The lower floor has a food preparation area, additional laundry facilities, and the adult cat rooms. Each of the four adult rooms has its own fully enclosed concrete patio with sliding doors and cat doors. Catios provide safe outdoor access.

Turtle Towers

Turtle Towers is an additional building on the Safe Haven property providing specialized care for animals with particular needs.

Barker House

Barker House, east of Sequim, is a PFOA facility for special needs animals, caring for cats with conditions such as diabetes that require specialized daily care.
